2. What data we collect

We collect two categories of personal data on this website:

Data you give us

When you join our waitlist, you provide your email address and a role category (e.g. mother, doctor, midwife). This is the only personal data we ask you for directly.

Data collected automatically (analytics only - with your consent)

If you accept analytics cookies, we collect the following through Google Analytics 4:

• Anonymised IP address
• Browser type and version
• Operating system
• Pages visited and navigation patterns
• Device type
• Approximate geographic location (country / city level)

This data is anonymised and aggregated. No personally identifiable information is collected via analytics. If you decline analytics cookies, none of the above is collected.

3. How and why we use your data

We will only ever contact you about Cocoon. We will never sell your email address or use it for unrelated marketing.

4. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use the following cookies:

Analytics cookies are only set after you give consent. If you decline, no analytics cookies are placed. You can change your preferences at any time using the Cookie Settings button in the footer.

You can also manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some websites.

5. Third-party data processors

We use a small number of trusted third-party services that may process your data on our behalf:

Netlify, Inc. (United States)

This website is hosted by Netlify. When you submit the waitlist form, your email address is stored securely in Netlify's form submissions service. Netlify may process data in the United States. For more information, see Netlify's Privacy Policy.

Google LLC (United States)

If you consent to analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymised usage data. Google Analytics is configured with consent mode: analytics data collection begins only after you accept analytics cookies. Google may process data in the United States. We do not share your personal data with any other third parties, except where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of others.

6. International data transfers

Both Netlify and Google are based in the United States. When your data is transferred to the US, appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission and, where applicable, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum (IDTA). 7. How long we keep your data

• Waitlist email address: We retain your email for as long as you remain on our waitlist. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing [email protected].
• Analytics data: Retained for up to 14 months within Google Analytics (standard retention period). If you declined analytics cookies, no data is collected.
• Cookie preferences: Stored locally in the cc_cookie cookie for 6 months.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

• Right of access - request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Right to rectification - ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Right to erasure - ask us to delete your personal data
• Right to restriction - ask us to pause processing of your data in certain circumstances
• Right to data portability - receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Right to object - object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Right to withdraw consent - where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing. To withdraw consent for analytics, use the Cookie Settings in the footer. To unsubscribe from our waitlist, click the unsubscribe link in any email or contact us directly.

UK residents: If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example as we add new features to the Cocoon app or as data protection law evolves. When we make changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
